FanDuel High Value Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks – May 6, 2014

Anthony Rizzo Chicago Cubs

Jesse Chavez | SP | Oakland Athletics vs. Seattle Mariners | $7,700

Jesse Chavez has been one of the biggest pitching surprises in baseball this season, posting a fantastic 1.89 ERA and 0.95 WHIP.

Even more impressive is the fact that he has struck out 41 batters while walking only eight in 38 innings pitched.

Although his career stats aren’t quite as impressive, Chavez has found his rhythm this year, allowing more than one run in only one outing this year.

We’re not promising that he continues to pitch at this level throughout the season but it’s worth taking advantage of his extreme value tonight against the Mariners.

The 30-year-old right-hander faces a struggling Seattle offense that has scored just 122 runs this season, tenth lowest in all of baseball.

Considering the matchup and Oakland’s prolific offense, Chavez is a great bet for a high strikeout total and a win.

Anthony Rizzo | 1B | Chicago Cubs vs. Chicago White Sox | $3,900

The hard-hitting Cubs’ first baseman has been on a tear of late, hitting safely in five of his last six games with three homeruns and six RBIs.

He is now hitting .294 on the season with six homeruns, 16 RBIs and 19 runs. On a miserable Cubs offense, Rizzo has been the lone positive note.

To make his hot streak even more appealing, Rizzo faces off against Hector Noesi and the Chicago White Sox tonight.

Pitching for his third team already this year, Noesi has been inconsistent at best, allowing 14 earned runs through just 11.1 innings.

He has yet to make it over four innings in seven appearances while striking out just nine hitters.

Look for Rizzo to take advantage of Noesi’s struggles at a very appealing price.

Brian Dozier | 2B | Minnesota Twins at Cleveland Indians | $4,200

As far as favorable pitching matchups come, there isn’t a much better situation than Dozier and the Minnesota Twins.

Dozier has led a surprising Twins’ offense through the first five weeks of the season, leading the American League in both stolen bases (11) and runs (31) to go along with eight homeruns and 12 RBIs.

In addition to padding the stat sheet, Dozier has been one of the most consistent players in baseball this year, reaching base safely in 21 of his last 22 games.

The Twins face an extremely incredible matchup tonight as they face Josh Tomlin and the Cleveland Indians.

Tomlin was recently moved into the starting rotation, presumably because the Indians lack any better options.

Tomlin has never posted great numbers in the majors and is coming off a 2013 Tommy John surgery.

Making his first start of the year, the Twins should feast on the opportunity with Brian Dozier leading the charge.
